Onze service
Volledige aandacht voor uw klachten
In our hospital, we have specialized in the diagnosis and treatment of sports-related vascular conditions for more than 25 years. When surgical treatment is appropriate, several techniques may be considered, each tailored to the specific nature of the condition. In some cases, a combination of procedures may be required, depending on the underlying vascular abnormalities.
Arterial Release Procedure
If the artery itself is not damaged and the problem is limited to a kinked or compressed vessel, an arterial release procedure may be performed. During this procedure, the artery is freed from surrounding tissue and repositioned to restore a normal course and prevent it from kinking during exercise.
Artery Shortening
In some athletes, the artery may gradually lengthen as a result of prolonged and intensive training. When this occurs, it can lead to kinking of the vessel and restricted blood flow during exercise. In selected cases, the artery can be surgically shortened to restore its normal length and improve blood flow.
Complete Vascular Reconstruction with a Venous Patch
If the artery has become damaged and narrowed, a complete vascular reconstruction may be required. During this procedure, scar tissue is carefully removed from the affected artery, after which a segment of vein, usually taken from the upper leg, is used as a patch to widen the artery and restore normal blood flow.
